Women and Water
22 March 2025 - 19 April 2025
Rosie Simon
Rosie’s work explores the powerful and often overlooked connection between women and water. She is particularly drawn to the life-giving qualities of nature, especially water, which sustain and nurture life. Her current series focuses on women in their element—capturing the uncanny bond they share with water. Rather than using fruit as a metaphor for women, Rosie emphasizes the nurturing roles that women play in the gardens, kitchens, and lives of others, observing how they connect with water in its many forms: for nourishment, cleansing, and recreation.
Rosie highlights the vital role water plays in sustaining life on Earth, noting that humans have long sought out other planets in search of water, proof that life could exist elsewhere. Yet, right here on Earth, water is the miracle that sustains us all. Women—who drink it, use it to clean, swim, dive, and grow with it—embody this connection. Rosie reflects on the universal pull of water, how it nourishes us, and how women, like water, are essential to life itself.
