Time in Space
26 July - 18 August 2024
Claire Roussac
“Time in Space” is inspired by the wanderings through the back blocks of the Bellarine Peninsula, and a recent trip to southern Tasmania. Time spent in a space where the connection to a familiar landscape allows the mind to wander. Possibilities come to the surface, and an inner questioning begins; what is, what might be, where to from here? Claire’s work is an intuitive representation of light, mood and form within a landscape, with a focus on colour, texture and movement.
About the artist
Roussac studied fine art throughout school and has always painted for fun. However, the focus shifted when in 2019 she rented an art studio from Boom Gallery in Newtown, Geelong, and began a more thorough exploration of her personal style and sparked the desire to share these works in a gallery context.“for me, the creative process begins with inspiration from dog walks, coastal escapades and drives through the countryside”.
Claire has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Marketing, and Graduate Certificate in Arts and Cultural Management. Her work has appeared in various group exhibitions at The Space Gallery in Newtown in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery during August and September 2023.
