Jimi Hendrix
For the past two-years, Jimi Hendrix has been on a mission to rediscover the ‘Child Artist’ with the aim to reignite that joy he felt, when he painted and drew as a child.Â
These twenty-two drawings are all created via the tracing process. Two years on, and Jimi has happily announced that ‘the joy has been reignited. The drawing process is now an experience that is positive, and up-lifting. Within this body of work, I have interwoven my passion for writing self-help material. These twenty-two sets of dialogue, provide my audience with the inspiration, to aid and assist, with the connection to develop and understand the meaning behind my drawings. I want my audience to have a unique experience, when they attempt to receive the messages that lie hidden, within the artworks themselves.’
The dialogue is specifically designed to create a platform, which Jimi’s audience can take advantage of, in order to give each drawing, not only more meaning, but to create a unique and personal journey, via his life experience, and the life experience, of the audience. Hendrix wants his audience to develop a strong connection with his work; for the work to liberate people, and make them feel confident, that they too, can win their battles in life – and become whole and centred – as he is now.
The exhibition is called ‘The Battle’. It is based on Jimi’s experience with borderline-personality-disorder. It comes in three sections. Section A is titled, ‘Battle at Kruger Park’. Section B is titled, ‘Teaching my Demons to be Kind’ and section C is titled, ‘The Real me’. At this point in time, only Section A is complete and Hendrix hopes to exhibit the entire completed body throughout Australia when he has finished the final two. Section A is what you see here on display.Â
